Scottie: Connected toy
Scottie is a project initiated by Waag Society which targets teenagers who are spending a long period of time in a hospital. Scottie enables implicit and affective communication over distance. By squeezing its body, users exchange vibrations and by means of a sensor in its foot and a lamp in its head colours can be exchanged. The ‘arms’ of Scottie indicate presence of the other Scottie users. In a multidisciplinary team a fully functional prototype was developed and tested in a very short timespan. Sophisti was responsible for Scottie’s form, technical integration and production.
